It is not easy to take good artistic photographs... and it is even more difficult to take good artistic photographs in black and white.The photographer looks for objects or scenes to photograph that will make good black and white photos, and in large measure, she succeeds. I didn't like ALL of the photos, but I liked many of them.
For example, there is a photo of a white daisy on a black background. This photo is very beautiful. And there is a photo of a cello or a violin... the shape and the manner that the light shows the shape, is beautiful. Light shining through tall trees, is very beautiful... the contrast between dark and light is striking...
However, there are several photos that are all greys... there is no contrast between light and dark, and I didn't like these photographs.
In my opinion the book would be better without these photos at all... it would be better if all of the photographs would be uniformly high contrast photos.
I look forward to see other photo books from this photographer. She definitely has a good photographer's eye.
